Hello – hello little faces. I told you that I will write articles for the three movies of The Mummy Trilogy. So today I return with the second one, The Mummy Returns. ( Read my post about The Mummy here )

The story. ( It contains some spoilers if you haven’t watched the first one. )

Nine years after the time that Evy Carnahan ( Rachel Weisz ) woke up Imhotep ( Arnold Vosloo ) and they had to stop him and send him back to the dead, another one wants to bring him back. Meela, the reincarnation of Anck Su Namun ( Patricia Velasquez ), with Mr. Hafez’s ( Alun Armstrong ) help go to Hamunaptra and trying to find Imhotep’s body.

At the same time, Evy with her husband, Rick O’ Connell ( Brendan Fraser ), and their son Alex ( Freddie Boath ), find a casket that contains Anubis’ bracelet that he had given to Scorpion King ( Dwayne Johnson aka “The Rock” ) back in 3067 B.C. Imhotep’s plan is to kill the Scorpion King so he can control Anubis’s army ( some really scary undead creatures ) and rule the world with the love of his life on his side. The bad guys trying to steal the bracelet but Alex stops them.

O’ Connells return back to London, unaware that Anck Su Namun’s people are behind them. They manage to abduct Evy in order to sacrifice her so Imhotep can return and Rick with Alex, Jonathan ( John Hannah ), and my one and only Ardeth ( Oded Fehr ) go after them to save her.

When the bad guys figure out that the person that has the bracelet is Alex, take him by force from his parents so he can lead them to The Oasis of Ahm Shere, where the Scorpion King’s pyramid is, and now it’s their turn to follow the trails that he leaves behind and to find him before it’s too late.

My thoughts and definitely some spoilers.

First of all, the movie starts with a battle between the Scorpion King’s army and another one. How on Earth they knew who they supposed to kill? All the men wore the same clothes. ( Confused lady here. ) The “now” in the movie is in the year 1933 A.D.

My favorite scene from the movie is when that bitch, Anck Su Namun kills Evy! The first time that I watched the movie I was in shock for at least five minutes. The good thing is that Alex used the Book of the dead and brought her back, but Rick’s face when he saw her being stabbed will always hunt my soul.

Again, my beautiful and precious Medjay boy ( yeah, I’m talking about Ardeth ) was a true hero. He never thought to leave his friends unprotected even when Anubis’ army was ready to kill him and his army ( heart eyes ).

I can’t decide which was the biggest plot twist. The fact that Evelyn is the reincarnation of princess Nefertiti and Rick is a Medjay or that Anck Su Namun betrayed Imhotep.? I mean, the only thing that the poor guy always wanted was to be with her ( #truelove, #boyfriendgoals, etc ) and she left him to die! Seriously girl?

And for the end, I left my ultimate favorite movie quote. The “I hate mummies” always will be a golden line ( fight me on this ).
