The Last Hours: Chain Of Gold by Cassandra Clare

Cassandra Clare’s Shadow World has no end and we love it! In her newest book series The Last Hours we explore another part of our favorite characters.

This time, we follow the lives of the children of our beloved heroes from The Infernal Devices trilogy. As we see how James and Lucie, Will and Tessa Herondale’s kids, and their friends Matthew Fairchild, Thomas Lightwood and Christopher Lightwood are known for always getting themselves into trouble and when Cordelia Carstairs comes to London things get worst.

Lucie is beyond happy that her best friend and future parabatai will live in the same city with her but Cordelia’s plans to save her family’s reputation after her father’s arrest is more important than anything else. When she meets James, her feelings start getting in her way, but she has to stop her heart from falling for him… especially now that he is completely and head to toes in love with Grace Blackthorn.

While Cordelia is trying to find a way to save her father, demon attacks in the middle of London start taking place and the young Shadowhunters have to fight in order to save the mundane world, and survive. When they find out about Tatiana Blackthorn’s plans to bring her late son, Jesse, back to life through black magic they need to stop her before it’s too late.

Truth be told, I know that I really liked this book but it took me so long to finish it. I usually finish my books really quickly, no matter how big they are but in this case, I didn’t. The past 1.5 year of my life was kinda uneasy and I lost my passion for reading ( or doing any other hobby of mine as well ). A couple of weeks back I started feeling myself again and my passion for books and reading came back as a hurricane.

The story is great, as all Cassandra’s storylines are, and the way that she has written her characters is not only charismatic but deep and memorable as well. She manages to bring to life all those characters, other small and other big, other important and others for only one scene… but all of them are unique and beautiful as they are real people.

I totally loved the way that she wrote James and Cordelia’s love story ( for now ) and the way that she makes us know that they love each other but they have no idea about each other’s feelings is so real that it made me literally scream at my book. Grace’s role manages to make you want to send her, I don’t know… somewhere far away…! And Tatiana as a villain is a total gem.

Plus, the bonus story about Will and Tessa was the best gift that she could give me. These two are my favorite characters from the whole franchise and it really made me happy.

It’s a 4.7/5 from me! I totally liked it and I’m glad that it took me a while to finish it because I already have the second book and I’m able to start it right away lol.

Let me know in the comments below what you think about the book and don’t forget to follow my blog through your email in order to not miss any new posts!

Until next time…
