The Jungle: season 1 review

The Jungle is probably one of the top series I watched this year. It’s a Thai production and we see many famous actors from the channel GMMTV in the leading roles.

Rendezvous is the VIP secret bar where our seven main leads gather at night to “hunt” for their victims. The Jungle, as they call their little group, are smart, good-looking young men who don’t give promises, they don’t love and they want zero attachments with any woman.

If you are lucky enough to find or to be given, the code to enter Rendezvous will meet Hunter. The owner and bartender of the club, and will probably introduce you to The Jungle. Their leader, the lion is Pine. While Phethai is the jaguar, Nannam is the viper and his twin brother Nanfah is the tiger. Nathee is the wolf and finally, Hack is the tarantula.

I definitely started watching it just because of Off and Nanon because those two are on my list of my top 5 favorite Thai actors. In the beginning, the series was exactly what I thought about that it would be. About sex and the boys being total assholes. That changes quickly though.

Soon, we see their true colors and why they act the way that they do and everything ( or almost everything ) makes sense. They did a great job of divvying up the time between the guys and we’re able to see everyone’s backstory and their love story with our six beautiful badass ladies.

If I had to choose between the love stories I would say that I loved the story between Nannam and Nithan the most. Their chemistry was great and I liked the whole fake dating thing. I also really liked Nanfah and Pladao but I’d like to see more of them. Phethai and Gale were cute but I didn’t feel any sparkles. Hack and Irin were hot as f*ck but until to figure everything out was a little bit toxic in my opinion. I totally enjoyed Nathee and Florence’s story and finally, Pine and August even if it was really interesting all the backstory and what really happened I found it a little bit boring.

Although, everyone did a great job and it’s a series that I would have no problem watching again. Something that surprised me a lot, even if I knew how good as an actor is, is the fact that Nanon is phenomenal. He managed to play two different roles at once and he was absolutely breathtaking. I mean, I’m not sure that I can explain that but he crushed it! He managed to really make you believe that you’re watching two different people and of course, the way that he portrayed the twins was great. They had two completely different personalities and Nanon played them both equally great.

I liked that we saw an ending for all of them but they gave us a hint that we may have a second season but with a female version of The Jungle. Would you like to watch something like that? Let me know in the comments below.

I give the series an 8.5/10.

Until next time…

xx Marilita.
