Hello – hello there my little faces and have a lovely weekend. Today I will talk to you about the book that I was reading and finished last night. It’s the first book of The Shiver Trilogy written by Maggie Stiefvater. ( fun fact, Maggie and my sister are born the same day and year. 😛 )
The story:
When Grace was a kid a pack of wolves attacked her the winter in her backyard and they dragged her to the woods so they could kill her. One of them, the yellow-eyed one, HER wolf saved her. She can’t remember how and why but he did. Every winter she is able to stay in her backyard and watch the wolves. Her wolf is always there, watching her. So close but so far at the same time.
It’s not easy for Sam as well. The only thing that he can do when he is a wolf is to watch her. He always stays in the woods. Never brave enough to go closer to her. On the other hand, when the summer is coming and he can be a boy again he does the same thing again. He never talks to her, he never goes close to her. He only watching her… from afar. As always.
BEWARE THE SPOILERS ( if you don’t wanna read them, please leave this post. )
On this trilogy, we can read about The Wolves of Mercy Falls. The little town’s wolves that the winter are living in the forest, on their wolves form but the summer, most of them come back in town as people and living there, until the cold weather catches them again. For some of them, it’s too late though. On some point, every wolf’s two sides become one. The wolf always win. When they turned for the winter they are not sure that they will be able to become human again when the warm weather comes.
This is Sam‘s problem as well. He is sure that this is his last summer. When the winter came and he turned into a wolf again he knew that he will never become a boy again. Until something happened and turned him into a human, bleeding in Grace‘s backyard. That was the time that they met. That she knew, that this boy was HIM. Her wolf.
In love and in pain, trying to live as much as they can together until Sam‘s wolfie side win again. Are they prepared to lose each other? Are they ready to say goodbye to each other FOREVER?
** I totally loved the book and I will start the second one tonight!! Maggie created a beautiful story about love, werewolves and loyalty. I recommend it to you and can’t wait to tell me if you like it or not. Leave your comment here, or on my facebook page. Until next time…
xx Marilita.
