One Piece: Live Action – season 1 ( not a ) review ( no spoilers )

OH MY GOD!!! That was the review, thanks for reading it…

No, ok… I’m joking. But omg indeed!! First of all, I’d like to confess ( even if I am feeling ashamed of myself ) that I haven’t read the manga or watched the anime before. The only thing that I always knew about One Piece was that the plot was about pirates. When I discovered that Netflix developed it into a live-action, I thought I could give it a chance if I hadn’t anything else to do. ( what an idiot )

Yesterday, it was Saturday. My plans got canceled because I wasn’t feeling so good so I thought “Let’s watch One Piece, it’s about pirates and only 8 episodes. What’s the worst thing that could happen?” 18 hours later, I’m mentally married to Zoro, those little idiots are my crew, Luffy is my captain and I wanna go find the One Piece.

Luffy, always wanted to be a great pirate and sail to the open sea with his crew in order to find the great treasure of all times. The One Piece.! As he grew into an adult his dream never changed and he started his mission to find a ship and a crew that would follow him unconditionally to the end of the world.

I will not write spoilers because even if I want to I’m too emotional to do that and a little bit confused about some things so, I will leave it in peace for now. But I want to point out the casting. How on earth did they manage to find people, like real actual people that look like their characters? Especially Inaki Goboy who plays Luffy is like the character jumped out of the anime.

My personal favorite character though is Zoro. But if you follow me on my social media you may have already guessed that. I really loved the fact that Luffy and his crew aren’t the typical pirates but instead, they help innocent people everywhere they go.

The characters ( and again I speak only having watched the live-action) are well written, with depth and development that sometimes we don’t see in so few episodes. Of course, some plot twists were better than others but every single detail of the storyline, in the end, made sense.

Showing us what people can do when they find those that they can call family and as I guess being true to the manga and the anime, the live-action managed to be number one in more than 85 countries on Netflix in only two days. I will guess that it will renew for more than one season so, we will get back to talk about them in the future.

I will give it a 9/10 and I’ll leave you to go plan how on earth I’ll manage to keep up on a 1074-episode-long anime.

Until next time…

xx Marilita.
