Off Campus: episode 06 “The Breakaway” – review

Hello – hello,

We officially made it into episode 6! First of all, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for reading those reviews that the last few days ( don’t be shy, comment your thoughts and repost them to your friends ) it means a lot seeing that someone enjoys my messy thoughts. Anyway…

This episode was for the majority centered on Allie and Dean. We start with a flashback of how they started hooking up and before that, when Allie and Hannah had to spend their night at the boys’ house. Allie and Dean had a really beautiful conversation about her dreams, with Dean trying to be supportive and make her understand that her people will be happy for her chasing those dreams, and if they’re not, then they’re not her people.

Remember the blue jeep that Allie got in on the previous episode? Well was Beau’s because apparently, her ride to New York was with Beau and Dean. Having Allie become besties with Beau wasn’t on my bingo this year, but Hell yeah!

She goes to Dean’s for Thanksgiving since his family is on vacation and they are having a really nice time. ( Have I mentioned how adorable they are? ) He talks a little bit about his family but she totally freaks out when the boys call him and they almost see her. She tells him that they have to stop and runs away.

Garrett talks with Hannah about her song and how the lyrics Justin wrote don’t work and they accidentally said their first “I love you” and don’t mind me while I collect my pieces from the floor. They are so cute I wanna throw up ( In the best way possible ).

Logan asks Garrett about the signed jersey he asked him to get from his dad for an auction, but Garrett tells him that he didn’t ask Phil about that. Logan feels disappointed, but he lets it pass. The auction takes place at Malone’s and Dean finds the opportunity to speak to Allie and he is trying to convince her to rethink her decision to end their friends with benefits relationship. Allie sees him talking with a couple of girls and plays Pink’s “U+Ur Hand”, just for him. ( Your girl here loves a book-accurate scene. Well done, “Allie Cat”. )

Garrett finds out that Logan asked his dad to give something for the auction and they argue. At the same time, Justin, with his band play Hannah’s song without her permission at the auction and she gets mad. They having an argument and he drops out of helping her with the showcase.

Dean and Allie decide to continue… whatever they have and they’re having sex in her dorm. After he leaves, Sean ( dude, we had forgotten that you exist ) comes to talk to her and finds out that she was seeing someone.

Hannah suggests that Garrett might be good if he speaks to Logan about his dad and tells him the truth. She thinks that it will help their friendship if Logan knows but Garrett isn’t ready. He goes home and after Hannah finishes her shift finds out something shocking. Tomorrow’s rival team’s captain is the guy who assaulted her back in High School.

Another beautifully written episode! But, I’m kinda concerned… We saw in one episode the half of the third book. What on earth will see next season? ( Because yeah, it’s been confirmed people… season two will be about Dean and Allie, with snipets of Logan and his future girl ).

In the episode, we had an exciting Easter egg. At some point, Dean announced the winner of the auction, some random girl named Grace Ivers. Well, that’s my favorite girl! You’ll meet her next season, if you haven’t read the book… and yes, that’s Logan’s girl.

I liked the episode and I liked that we saw so much from Allie and Dean. Those two are perfect. I’d like to hug Garrett, because this kid needs a hug! Now, as for Logan… Don’t run to judge him as rude, or untrustworthy or jealous… This guy is so broken inside that he is just trying to survive.

It’s a 8.5/10 from me.
