Hello there my adorable little faces. After last week’s blog post “My 10 favorite tv shows of the decade” I thought that it would be cool this week to talk about my otps of the decade. I didn’t put then in order ( well, except for the first one ) but I had two rules: a) one ship per series and b) the series had to be aired through 2009 – 2019.
THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS.
With no more delay, let’s go to see which are the couples that I chose as my favorites.
- Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak. Arrow
They met when Oliver, after he returned from Lian Yu and started being the Hood, needed her help as the IT genius that Felicity is. She accepted to help him and she never stopped. After that they became friends, spending the nights together fighting alongside ( and Diggle as well, Long Leave Original Team Arrow ) to save their city from all the bad guys and finally fell in love. Well, truth be told they were in love for the first moment that they met ( Oliver has remembered the color of her pen for God’s sake – #itwasred – ) but it took them three long seasons to finally be together. They had a lot of ups and downs but they never stopped caring and trusting each other.
- Jamie Fraser & Claire Randall. Outlander
When Claire and her husband Frank decided to go on a second honeymoon they never could believe that she would end up 200 years in the past, in a completely different Scotland. There, Claire met Jamie who he fell in love with her immediately and he agreed to marry her in order to keep her safe, even if he knew that she’s trying to go back at her time. But, along the way to Claire’s efforts to return back in her life she completely fell in love with Jamie as well. And after she did, no matter what year or what country they were on… they always find their way back to each other.
- Jughead Jones & Betty Cooper. Riverdale
When Riverdale started, everyone was excited to see what the writers had in store for Betty and Archie, the original ship from the comics, and everyone was completely in shock when figured out that something was off. The chemistry and understatement between Betty and Jughead were noticeably by every single person, character or viewer, and it wasn’t too long when they finally shared their first kiss and became a couple. They are both brave and looking always for the truth, something that sometimes putting them in trouble but they’re always there to help one another.
- Magnus Bane & Alec Lightwood. Shadowhunters
I’m sure that you know #Malec even if you haven’t ever watched the show. Those two supposed to be on the different lines of their world, with Alec being a responsible Shadowhunter and Magnus a warlock with not so friendly feelings ( at first ) for Alec’s kind but love is blind. It was love with first sight and everyone knew it, even if they didn’t admit it. They literally go to Hell in order to save each other and that was only one of the obstacles that they managed to overcome and eventually be together – forever -.
- Tyler Lockwood & Caroline Forbes. The Vampire Diaries
Caroline and Tyler weren’t even friends at first. Just schoolmates who sometimes hanging out with the same people. When Tyler became a werewolf forced Caroline to admit the truth about herself to him but her answer was a lit bit different than what he thought. She was a vampire, not a werewolf. They wanted to help each other and started to spend a lot of time together and they eventually fell in love. Everything went into hell though when Klaus decided that he wanted Caroline for himself and did whatever he could to destroy them ( I will never forgive writers about that ).
- Demir Erendil & Selin Sever. Her Yerde Sen
It’s very possible that I will never stop talking about this series. It’s one ( not only Turkish ) of the best that I have watched, with well-written characters and storylines and one of the healthiest ships that I ever shipped. Demir and Selin had their problems, of course, hating each other at first… having to live at the same house, work at the same company… But they always had each other’s backs ( even when they’re enemies ). Finally, they fell in love and even some people tried to separate them, they didn’t succeed.
- Michael Guerin & Alex Manes. Roswell, New Mexico
Michael and Alex always were a thing… since they were 17. But it didn’t work out. When Michael returned back home from the army, Alex was still there… looking at him as he never had left… but they have secrets. Both of them and they are not sure that they are ready to share them with one another, or if the other person is ready to learn them. Because let’s be clear, everyone would be skeptical to confess to the love of their life that they are alien.
- John Proudstar & Clarice Fong. The Gifted
In a world that the X-MEN are gone it’s up to John and his friends to find and save other Mutants. Clarice is one of them. One of the strongest ones with the incredible power to create portals. When John and some others got in trouble and the only person who could help them was Clarice everything became really awkward. Sure that she can’t make it refuses to help them and John’s girlfriend does an unforgettable power trick to Clarice in order to force her creat a portal. After that, not sure about what she’s truly feeling, Clarice has to live in a world that the man that she doesn’t know but love, is in love with someone else. ( Is he though? ) Fine, I’ll tell you. The series got canceled but they end it up together ( it’s almost Christmas I’m being nice here ).
- Benvolio Montague & Rosaline Capulet. Still star-crossed
After those idiots, Romeo and Juliet, died ( yeah, not a fan of them ) it’s up to their cousins to keep the peace between the two families in Verona. Forced to marry, even if they hate each other, those two giving us scenes full of smart ass lines, comedic dynamic and sexual tension. They decided to work together to stop the war between their families and find a way to do it without marrying, but as I like to say… love is blind. They end it up madly in love with each other and even if the series got canceled ( fun fact ) they re-shoot some scenes between them in order to make them official endgame. Thank you.
- Wade Kinsella & Zoe Hart. Hart of Dixie
I started watching the series a few days ago ( it’s a finished one ) but I’m so hooked with these two. Zoe ( or Doc as he calls her ) is forced to leave her life in New York and go to live in a small town working as a doctor. Wade ( she calls him Cowboy, something that he loves ) on the other hand, is her new neighborhood. Arrogant, ruthlessly rude, womanizer and hot! They’re driving each other crazy, but the sex is great! Short story long ( I googled to find some spoilers because I had to write the article ) they fell madly in love and did the impossible. Made it work.
