Icebreaker by Hannah Grace: review

You know, sometimes it’s not a good idea to read your book at the metro, at 7:30 am going to work. ( Or maybe it is!! ) When I bought Icebreaker, I had read the plot on the back of the book, I knew it was a famous TikTok pick but I didn’t know that it was a spicy one.

In the author’s defense, she has a warning on the second page that I never read ( my bad ). So, when I was reading on my way to work and the spicy stuff began, I just looked at the first pages of the book, said to myself a “oh… ok” and kept on reading.

The story follows the life of college figure skater, Anastasia Allen. Anastasia, all her life worked hard to make it into the national team of the USA in figure skating, and now, after all the pain and suffering is ready to accomplish her dream with her teammate Aaron.

When an incident happens at Maple Hills, the University of California where she studies, the both of them are forced to share their ring with the Ice Hockey team. Things could be easier if the team captain, Nate Hawkins, wasn’t so arrogant… but is he indeed though?

As time passes though, the two of them will start building a connection and they will find on each other things that they didn’t even know that they needed in the first place.

( Spicy warning: the author does a graphic representation writing the sex scenes. If you don’t like reading that kind of book maybe will feel a little bit uncomfortable. )

My thoughts ( spoiler alert ):

I liked the book a lot. It was well written, full of green-flagged characters ( Aaron, I’m not talking about you ) and I loved that we saw Anastasia using psychotherapy to help her solve her problems. Of course, someone had to be the asshole in the story and Aaron did a great job making me mad every time that he was make an appearance. I mean, the dude was broken with no hopes for repair.

I would probably need to see him taking a bigger punishment than the one that he got, but maybe that’s just me ( tell me your opinion that matters ). Something else that I’d like to see is what happens with Lola and Robbie, except if we keep seeing them on the next books and I’ll get my answers there.

I adored Anastasia’s character development. From being scared to live her life, and take control of the smallest things, she took over and fought for her. Well done my love, well done. I will not gonna lie, I was so scared that she would end up pregnant and would have to sacrifice her dreams, but nothing happened… Well, at least not until she was already a successful athlete.

My favorite character:

Absolutely and with no doubt Henry! ( mini info, he’s the main character in Grace’s third book ).

Mini trivia:

Hannah Grace has already written two more books in the same universe with Icebreaker. The second one is Wildfire and the third one is Daydream.

It’s a 4.5/5 stars from me. Let me know in the comments if you have read the book and what you think. Did you like it, or not?

Until next time…
