Boot Camp ( 2024 ): review

Boot Camp, follows the life of Whitney Carmichael, a 18 years old girl. Whitney is unathletic which is one of the reasons that she was bullied in high school.

Having to deal with Willow, her crush’s girlfriend, all the time was something that made her realize that she needed to stay away from all of them for a while. Her sister’s wedding is on the corner and Whitney explains why she has to attend a boot camp to her parents and Poppy. She thinks that it will be a good idea to stay away from everyone and probably get a little bit more fit.

Arriving at the camp though, a huge surprise awaits her. Willow, her moral enemy, attends the camp as a camper as well. Regretting her decision immediately, tries to convince her parents that it was a bad idea and asks them to take her home. Unfortunately, her actions have a cost. The camp is unrefined and she has to stay there and take the classes.

Things become more complicated when she meets Alex, her personal trainer, and the hottest guy on the camp. Having a troubled relationship with another trainer, Alex tries to figure out why he start feeling attracted to Whitney, while her only goal is to stay away from him.

The story is a total cliché and no big surprises and plot twists waiting in the corner, but it’s a nice movie to watch if you need something to keep you company those last days of summer before we go to full autumn mode.

I enjoyed the relationships that Whitney developed with her new friends. It was nice seeing how easy is to find other people to connect with when you are in a fresh environment and you are open to the possibilities of new friendships. I liked also that Willow changed and became friends with Whitney, recognizing all her wrongs she tried to make it up to her and it was nice seeing her grow.

I also liked that we saw more things about Whitney’s journey than just being in love with Alex. The movie was all about that though, and it turned out to be a nice one.

I will give it a 6/10 just because was a movie that you know exactly what you’ll watch. But other than that the movie was ok.

Until next time…
