To the bone ( 2017 )

Hello there my lovely and adorable little faces. Today I wanna tell you about a movie that a watched last week. I’m talking about Netflix’s original movie “To the bone” in which we see how people with eating disorders struggle to “get out of this” and win in a battle with their selves.

The story.

We follow the life of a twenty years old young lady and her battle with anorexia nervosa. Ellen ( Lily Collins ) tried a lot of times to win her disorder tying many ways but every time that she was going to a program not only it didn’t work but she would manage to lose more weight. As the last result, her dysfunctional family agrees to send her to another house that is known for its unconventional methods.

There she will meet more people with various eating disorders who all they try, some more than others, to win their own battle. Dr Beckam ( Keanu Reeves ) believes in her ( and to all the others ) but if Ellen is not ready to believe in herself, no one can help her.

My thoughts with no spoilers.

Lily Collins did a great job. I read somewhere that she even lost some weight in order to look more like her character. Every character, especially those with eating disorders, had to deal with their own personal demons and I really liked it that I had the chance to see so many vulnerable characters in one movie.

Something that the movie taught me, is that every person, no matter their problems, have to want to save themselves. It doesn’t matter how and much the others try to help them. Now, I can’t be sure how people with eating disorders must felt watching the movie but it really touched me.

Don’t forget to tell me what you think about the movie in the comments below or on my facebook page. Also, if you like my posts just follow my blog through WordPress or your e-mail account ( you’ll find the following buttons on your right in this post ). Until next time…
