The secret diary of Lizzie Bennet by Bernie Su & Kate Rorick.

Every single one of us has either read or at least watched Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. But how many of you have watched the modern adaptation, the web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries?

( You can find it on youtube )

The book I’m talking about is based on the web series and it lets us experience every little detail that we never got to see on screen. The writers allow us to witness firsthand the hatred Lizzie initially feels toward the cranky and seemingly snobbish William Darcy. We also discover the hidden sides of the Bennet family, learn just how genuinely sweet Jane (Lizzie’s older sister) really is and realise how wrong we were about some of the other characters (Lydia Bennet, for example, or even the charming George Wickham).

Throughout the book we experience the struggles Lizzie’s family faces and the writers make us laugh, cry and celebrate alongside them. We feel as though we’re there when Charlotte (Lizzie’s best friend) leaves and when Bing breaks Jane’s heart into pieces.

We’re also there as Darcy slowly falls in love with Lizzie and we can truly feel her falling for him as well without even realising it herself. We share her heartbreak when she finally admits her feelings but believes it’s too late. How can she expect him to still love her after everything that’s happened?

You’ll definitely enjoy this book, especially if you’ve already watched the series. If you haven’t, you can either watch the series first, read the book first, or even experience both at the same time. It doesn’t really matter, since the events in the book unfold alongside the videos and complement them perfectly.

Have a lovely day! If you’ve read the book, or decide to after this review, I’d love to hear what you thought of it.
