Let me tell you something about me. I adore watching rom-coms in the fall. The weather is not cold but not hot either and holding a mug full of hot coffee while eating a most likely almost burned toast is my perfect kind of Sunday morning.
This is one of those days ( finally ). Today, I was scrolling through the new releases to check out what’s new… when I saw “The Other Zoey” and I remembered the trailer from TikTok and that I was interested in watching it. I made my coffee, I let my toast almost burn ( on purpose ) and I pressed the play button.
Zoey Miller doesn’t believe in romantic feelings or romantic relationships. She truly believes that two people can have a healthy relationship only when their interests and hobbies are alike. She creates an app based on these theories but her fellow students in her university have different thoughts about love than Zoey.
When accidentally meets Zach, the star of the football team her best friend informs her that he is dating the other Zoey, Zoey Wallace. Zoey doesn’t give it a second thought and she keeps thinking about the cute nerd she saw in her class, having the same beliefs about love with her.
Working at the campus’s bookstore, Zach was the last person that Zoey expected to meet there. She helps him order a book that he wants but she runs behind him when she sees that he forgot his credit card. She shouts his name and Zach turns to look at her and gets hit by a car. When he wakes up he thinks that Zoey is his girlfriend and introduces her to his parents who run to the hospital. She is ready to tell his parents the truth about who she is when Miles, Zach’s cousin, comes to visit and he is the cute nerd from her class.
I don’t like this concept, of keeping lies, in real life but this was a movie and in movies, I can forgive some things… Zoey definitely won’t it to keep her true identity a secret but she thinks that it is the only way to get to know Miles and keep Zach safe until he gets better.
As you can imagine, she ends up falling in love with Zach, since the movie is a huge cliche! Everything comes into the light eventually and things go to hell but don’t worry. The movie has a happy ending. I liked it. It was warm and funny and sweet and you can totally see the rights and wrongs. I totally enjoyed it and it’s one of those I could watch again in the future.
The acting was ok and I liked the winter vibe a lot. All the characters were close to being real and I like it when we see that no one is perfect. I totally recommend it to you if you like romantic movies and you want something sweet to watch.
It’s an 8/10 from me, but let me know what you think about the movie.
Until next time…
xx Marilita.
