The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

One of the editions of the book covers.

Hello there my adorable little faces. On a previous post, I had told you about The Infernal Devices ( click for the post here ). Today, I will write about the main book series of Cassandra Clare‘s Shadow World. This book series was the first one that Clare started writing and its called The Mortal Instruments or for short TMI.

TMI consists of six books and the main character is Clary Fray, a 16 years old girl who believes that she is a typical teenager. The problem is that Clary is a lot of things but she is definitely NOT a mundane! Everything changes for her when, on the first book ( City of bones ) she and her best friend Simon Lewis go to Pandemonium, a nightclub, to celebrate her birthday. There, she witnesses a murder. Three kids at her age, covered with weird tattoos, murdered another person in front of her. That was the first time that Clary saw Shadowhunters killing demons. ( Even if she believed that the demon was human ).

After that incident, that made her believe that she is crazy because no one else saw the murder, Clary trying to forget everything and to live her life as she did until then. This isn’t easy though. She is starting painting weird symbols ( runes ) everywhere and she knows that someone is following her around. When someone abducted Clary’s mother, Jocelyn, the only people that can help Clary find here are the same that killed that guy at the club.

That’s the main story of the first book. You know that, especially, when I write an article most of the times I don’t tell you spoilers. That’s the reason that I don’t tell you more. I really enjoyed the books and I believe that you will have an amazing time while you’ll reading them.

The other books’ titles ( by order ) are: City of ashes, City of glass, City of fallen angels, City of lost souls and City of heavenly fire.

Let me know what you think about the books on the comments below or on my facebook page. Until next time…

xx Marilita.
