TV JUNKIE

Shadowhunters: All the stories are true.

Hello there my adorable little faces. A while time ago I had told you about a book series, “The Mortal Instruments” ( you can read it here ). The following post is about this book’s tv adaption. It will have some spoilers though so if you haven’t watched the two aired seasons and you don’t want to learn spoilers, you better go ( and come back when you’ll watch it ).

Before Freeform ( ex ABC family ) bought it, we got a movie ( trailer ). It was nice, but it wasn’t a success… at all! That was the reason why they decided to not shoot the other ones and a couple of years later, our dreams became true and the tv series had announced. They cast a fresh mostly unknown cast and I will never forget the moment that they said that my boy Jace would be playing by ( my celebrity crush ) Dominic Sherwood ( yeah, I screamed and I have no shame of that ). Well, a few months later we got the first teaser ( trailer ) and it was AMAZING.

Season 1
Truth be told, the first season wasn’t a masterpiece. They did a really good job, but the low budget and that most of the actors weren’t really experienced made it a little bit… not boring, but not perfect. The story had become real though and that was great.

Let’s see the story…
It’s Clary Fray’s 18th birthday ( on the show the characters are a couple of years older than the books ) so she and her best friend Simon Lewis decided to go and celebrate on the most hit club in Brooklyn, Pandemonium. At the same time, the golden trio of Shadowhunters; Jace Wayland with his brother, and parabatai, Alec Lightwood and their sister, Isabelle “Izzy” Lightwood are chasing demons at the same club. Clary is the only one that sees Jace killing someone but no one believes her. What secrets Jocelyn, Clary’s mom, has and leads to her abduction by a guy with the name Valentine Morgenstern? Why the only person that she trusted with them is Pandemonium’s owner and High Warlock Of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane? Who is, in reality, Luke Garroway that Clary had like a father all those years? And finally why Raphael Santiago, the leader of the Vampires clan in New York, has such an interesting for Simon? Shadowhunters, Downwolders like Vampires, Werewolves and Seelies… all of them want the Mortal Cup. And they believe that Clary has it. The only problem is that Clary doesn’t even know what this “Mortal Cup” is.

Other really important characters (in both seasons ) are:
My queen and the most badass Werewolf out there, Maia Roberts. The Seelie warrior Meliorn. Jocelyn’s best friend, and Warlock, Dot Rollins. The other three members of the Lightwood family, Robert… Maryce and Max. My perfect Shadowhunter girl, Lydia Branwell ( I even cosplayed as Lydia last year ) and the annoying member of the Clave, Victor Aldertree. The handsome Sebastian Verlac and of course the most badass “granny” out there, Imogen Herondale.

Some of the most popular ships ( because I know that you rooting for friendships and romance ) are:
– Malec ( Magnus and Alec )
– Clace ( Clary and Jace )
– Jaia ( Jace and Maia ) “And my personal favourite since the books”
– Jalec ( Jace and Alec )
– Saia ( Simon and Maia )
– Sizzy ( Simon and Izzy )
– Climon ( Clary and Simon )
– Clalec ( Clary and Alec )
– Clizzy ( Clary and Izzy )
– Jimon ( Jace and Simon )
– Rizzy ( Raphael and Izzy )

The show will be back for its third season on March 20, 2018.

Let me know what you think about the show and my post in the comments below or on my facebook page. Until next time…

xx Marilita.
