Hello there my little faces. I hope you have a great day. Today, I will write about the tv adaption of Sanditon, Jane Austen’s unfinished book. You see, our queen died before she could finish it ( cries forever ). The tv adaption is made by Andrew Davies who has brought Jane Austen’s book into “life” more than once ( and of course the creator of many more tv-series and movies ).
The story is about a young lady, Charlotte Heywood ( Rose Williams ), who meets Tom Parker ( Kris Marshall ) and his wife Mary ( Kate Ashfield ) when they have an accident on the road with their carriage traveling to Sanditon. A fishing village that Mr. Parker attempts to transform into a seaside resort. They invite Charlotte to spend some time there and her father agrees.
Of course, we’re talking about a Jane Austen’s novel so, romance is involved! Everything changes for Charlotte when she meets the arrogant, Tom’s younger brother, Sidney ( Theo James ). At first, of course, they hate each other ( my favorite kind of love story ) but things are changing pretty quickly.
Of course, the show has some other characters worth mentioning… Like my girl Esther Denham ( Charlotte Spencer ), the annoying Miss Lambe ( Crystal Clarke ), well her role is a nice one but I can’t stand her, the cutie pie of the show Lord Babington ( Mark Stanley ), the “pardon my language” asshole Sir Edward Denham ( Jack Fox ) and the ultimate queen Lady Denham ( Anne Reid ).
The series is quite well written with a remarkable cast and direction. It has great outdoor shooting in the English countryside and very beautiful and accurate costumes. The first season consists of only 8 episodes so it does not get tired of useless details.
( Update: The series renewed for a second season. )

It’s 8.1/10 from me.
Let me know if you have watched this series and don’t forget to tell me what you think about the post in the comments below. Until next time…
xx Marilita.
I see from the date of the post above that I am way behind the (TV) times.
I have seen a number of episodes (from seasons 1 and 2 of “Sanditon.” Being an ancient guy from a somewhat “red-neck” background in the southern USA, i never had the inclination to read the books of Jane Austen but, long-story-short, this TV version of “Sanditon” has made me a bit of a fan of JA, and absolutely a fan of this televised series. I have been a fan of many British programs in my life… usually I watch them on the PBS program, “Masterpiece.” Sanditon is absolutely a masterpiece of TV!
If I am getting this right (being a random surfer of blogs), Marilita, I do agree with most of what you say about “Sanditon,” except I may be more fanatically rhapsodic about this magnificent series.
Thank you for your comment. I hadn’t the time to watch season’s two premiere yet, but I hope that it’ll be as good as season 1.
