Hello hello,
I’m back with Rachel’s fifth book in the “Game Changers” series. By now, you probably have noticed that I adore this book series… because I really do! But let’s talk about it.
Troy was an asshole. As his dad, as his best friend and literally most hockey players. He used to make fun of others, throwing homophobic slurs at other players, just because his buddy was doing it. When the rumors about his best friend sexually assaulting women came out though, everything changed. Because it was a completely different thing to hide yourself behind a persona and be a rapist.
After Troy confronted Kent, his friend, letting him know that he believed the victims, his team traded him to another. Now, Troy has to move to Ottawa, play ice hockey for a shitty team while everyone is against him. Everything gets more complicated when he starts falling in love with Harris, his new team’s social media manager and openly gay.

My thoughts:
Troy Barrett has one of the greatest character developments that I have read in a while. He went from zero to one hundred in no time when he had to! I loved the fact that he used his fame to promote causes for victims.
He was also really brave to apologize to the people he had hurt in the past and took his feelings for Harris seriously by coming out so they will be able to be together.
It was an extra bonus that we were able to see Ilya so much, since he is Troy’s new team captain ( and eventually new best friend). I was so happy the moment they started bonding, and in the end they became friends. They both deserved this friendship, and it was beautiful seeing it take form.
Harry was a ray of sunshine, and I’m glad that they found each other. They both deserve happiness and each other. I was extremely happy that his family and Troy’s mom were so nice and supportive. Troy’s dad, on the other hand, is a horrible human being, and he doesn’t deserve to be mentioned.
I have to admit that Troy is my third favorite character after Scott and Ilya.
It’s a 4.7/5 from me.
