Hello there my little faces. Today I will talk to you about Netflix’s new series, Raising Dion.
THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS.
The story is about the 8 years old Dion Warren ( Ja’Siah Young ) and his mom Nicole ( Alisha Wainwright ). After Dion’s dad, Mark ( Michael B. Jordan ), died… Nicole has a hurt time trying to raise her son all alone. Between trying to find a new job, to keep her new home clean and Dion’s strangle to his new school things become more difficult when Dion starts having superpowers.
The only person that Nicole can trust is her son’s godfather, Pat ( Jason Ritter ). Pat knows everything related to superheroes stuff and he is a huge help to Nicole who has no idea what to do. When Nicole accidentally finds Charlotte Tuck’s ( Deirdre Lovejoy ) number on his husband’s pocket starts to believe that she wasn’t a complete stranger that Mark saved the night he died.
Charlotte informs her that Mark, as Charlotte as well, had powers… something that Dion got from him and together start helping Dion to control them. She also tells her the truth about Mark’s death and how he killed by some kind of thunderstorm in human form… the same one that killed all the others with powers and now is after Dion.
BIONA, the company in which both Mark and Pat work follows people with powers and Dion is one of them. Pat tries to figure out how to help him from inside the same time that Dion tells the truth about his powers to his friend Esperanza ( Sammi Haney ) and the two of them with the help of another friend of them, Jonathan ( Gavin Munn ), doing a physic’s project about how to stop thunderstorms, in order to stop the bad guy.
HUGE SPOILERS
When the bad guy revealed himself I was more than shocked that he was Pat!! I mean, the guy was more than weird… but I couldn’t imagine that he was the actual villain. Ritter did a good job playing the psycho and truth be told, he fooled me a while.
Something that I loved was the chemistry between Wainwright and Jordan. They were so cute as a couple. Unfortunately, we saw them together only on the flashbacks but since he isn’t truly dead maybe we can bring him back.
