Hello, hello…
Today, I will talk about “Not Me”, a Thai BL Drama I adore!
Growing up, Black and White had a very strong bond. As twins, they could communicate with each other without words as many twins can, but those two had more than this. If one of them was hurt the other was hurting as well. Their parents started thinking that they had to do something about that. They decided to get a divorce and split the brothers to break that bond.
Black grew up in Thailand with his mother, but White traveled a lot with his politician father. The parents forbid them to have any kind of communication and the boys having no other solution followed what their parents wanted. Everything changed though one day when Tod ( their childhood friend ) contacted White to inform him that Black was in a coma. Apparently, someone had beaten him so badly that almost killed him and ended up in the hospital.
White, looking into his brother’s life figures out that Black was part of a gang and believes that one of his members had something to do with Black’s condition. He copies Black tattoos and piercings, moves to his apartment, and goes to his uni classes like nothing happened. He finds Black’s gang members and starts interacting with them as if he is his brother.
Black’s friends, Yok and Gram notice that their friend is a little bit weird but they think that it’s just Black… being black. Sean though, Black’s nemesis on the gang is sure that something is going on and starts paying more attention to White. White, doing his best to play his brother but he is nicer and softer than him. He thinks before he acts and his ideas are different from Black. That’s the thing that made Sean start having feelings for him even though he can’t fully understand why and how.
The gang follows their plans to expose and destroy one of the important people in Thailand and Sean with White ( who are stills pretending to be Black ) fall in love with each other.
The series is one of my favorites and I have watched it more than one times. Off and Gun, who they play Sean and White/Black have a great chemistry and they have collaborated more than once as a TV couple. They know each other and their limits and their good communication is a huge plus since makes Sean and White’s bond super unique. All the characters are perfectly written, and played by an outstanding cast Gun makes the difference since he plays two different characters at the same time and he manages to make the audience believe that he actually is two people.!
The concept is also unique with great messages and a quick plot. The series has zero plot holes and a great plot twist that will make everyone sit on the edge of their couches or beds! It’s an absolutely beautiful series. Maybe the only thing that I didn’t like was Dan’s role and his relationship with Yok. I understand that he had a crucial role in the plot, but if I could punch him in the face, I would.
It’s a 8.5/10 from me!
