Make Your Play by Cali Melle

Hello – hello!

Another day, another book review ( yes – yes, a hockey romance again ) from “Aston Archers Hockey” series. After a nice first book ( Make Your Move ) it’s time for me to introduce you to book two’s ( Make Your Play) main couple. Riley and Nash.

Riley was in trouble, like big time! It wasn’t in her plans to become a mother at the moment, and mostly with a guy who wasn’t together. Accidents do happen though and assholes who doesn’t want to do anything about their kids, as well.

So now she is all alone, pregnant, with a business that she needs to manage and medical problems that worry her more than anything. The doctor was clear, things with her weren’t good, and it was possible that she would need to be hospitalized due to delivering the baby. At the best… Otherwise, she is possible of getting preclampsia, which is extremely risky for her and the baby.

With her health insurance being a joke, leaving her without any alternatives but being on a huge debt if something happens. And, all this stress makes her condition even worse..

When Nash, Riley’s best friend’s brother, finds out about all of these, he gives her the perfect solution. To marry him. Apparently, his hockey team has ideal health care for their players and their families and Riley needs this security in her condition.

Riley agrees, but with one condition. No one will find out, not even Nova, her best friend ( and his sister ), and after the baby’s birth, they will call off the wedding. Nash agrees with that, since firstly, he really want to help her out and secondly, because he is so freaking in love with her that he is willing to do whatever she asks him to do.

My opinion:

The second book made me like this universe a little more, but still, even if the story was nice and decently written, the writer didn’t manage to make me fall in love with them. It was spicier than the first one, and I liked the way that she gave us their relationship at the end, though.

The characters were ( at least for me ) more interesting than the first one, and at some points, I was too stressed out about Riley’s health. We also took a small sneak peek at the third book ( Make Your Save ) and its main couple and I think that it would be interesting.

I really hope that the next one will be even better because, even if I like Melle’s writing, I’d like to make me go crazy about her characters.

The book is a 3.5/5 from me.

Let me know in the comments below if you have read the book or if you plan to. And of course, don’t forget to subscribe through your email to make sure that you don’t miss any of our updates!
