Hello – hello,
Another day, another book review about hockey romance ( yeah, I’m kinda obsessed ). Anyway, today I’m gonna talk to you about “Make your move” by Cali Melle, the first book of her series “Aston Archers Hockey”.
The story follows Lincoln and Nova. The two of them have known each other since they were teenagers. He was Nash’s best friend and she was the annoyingly beautiful and smart little sister of Nash. Lincoln always had a thing for her, but he knew that Nash would never allow anything to happen between them
Nova, always loved stars… and Lincoln. Her big brother’s best friend. However, she knew that he never would be interested in her. He didn’t see her that way, and she had made her peace with that.
Although, the night before Lincoln leaves Aston to follow his dream, to become a professional hockey player, the full moon did its magic. The two share a kiss and make a wish to the moon…
Beware of the spoilers!!
Years later, knowing nothing about each other, Lincoln transfers back to Aston Archers, Nash’s hockey team. His best friend invites him to stay at his place until he finds a place to rent. But Nash forgot to mention something important. He doesn’t live alone.
Nova and her adorable two-year-old daughter, Posey, stay there as well.
Now, they have to live under the same roof knowing that their feelings not only didn’t disappeared through the years, but became even bigger and now they are threatening to destroy everything.
My thoughts:
The story was nice, but unfortunately, I didn’t fall in love with the characters. Don’t mind me, the characters and the writing were great, but I guess the whole “single parent” trope is not my favorite after all. Other than that, the story is worth reading, and I’m glad that I came across this series ( yes, I will read the others as well ).
I liked how the writer managed the relationships between the main characters, mostly with Nash, and how she didn’t make him a douch! The side characters were pretty well written and the preview she gave us of the second book, of Nash and Nova’s best friend, Riley, was more than satisfying.
Unfortunately, as I said before, it wasn’t enough to make me fall in love with the characters, but if you’re asking me if it’s worth reading it, I’ll answer you that “yes, yes it is.”
It’s a solid 3.2/5 stars from me…
Let me know in the comments below if you have already read this book, or if you planned to read it and don’t forget to subscribe in order to never lose any updates from us.
Until next time…
