Episodes: 12 (15’ minutes each)

My Rating: 4/10
Hello again my friends! Today I’m here to talk to you about a series I really anticipated but unfortunately it wasn’t what I expected. Mew Suppasit and JM’s collaboration seemed very interesting to me as I’m a fan of both of them and I was kinda curious about how a Thai actor would play the protagonist in a Korean drama. Well, (spoiler alert) that didn’t go well.
Casting
Mew Suppasit Jongcheveevat as Piuno
JM as Dae Byeol
Plot
P’Uno is a famous actor in both Thailand and Korea. His mother was Thai and his father is a Korean who cheated his wife with a Thai woman and P’Uno was born. Now, P’Uno is being blackmailed that everyone will learn about his family and he is forced to take part at a Korean reality show where he has to work at a dog café for a month. The only problem is that he hates animals. But one thing that he doesn’t seem to hate is Dae Byeol, the owner of the café. Dae Byeol helps P’Uno to overcome his fears for animals and the two of them fall in love. Sadly, their lovely dog falls very sick and die. Despite not being a filming hour, the TV show films them as they burry the dog and P’Uno gets mad and cancels the show. Then, a photo of the couple kissing gets leaked and Dae Byeol is afraid that P’Uno will leave him just as his ex-boyfriend did. He suggests to blame it all on him so P’Uno won’t risk his career, but P’Uno gives a press conference saying that Dae Byeol is the one who made him understand what love is. He then discovers that the one who blackmails him is his sister, he gets mad at her and after a while he returns to the show for a second season.
The end.
Where is the plot?
I love slow burn. But the problem is this drama was just so slow. The first 10 episodes felt like a big first episode. The plot wasn’t plotting, there was no character development, we didn’t even learn anything about the protagonists. ‘Till the last minute, the evil sister and the antagonist seemed more important than the couple. Even the dog itself had more screen time than the couple. How did they manage to fall in love in less than a month and who the hell thought that an “I love you” scene was necessary when there was not given any time to feel the bonding between them? Can’t even understand how the title “Love is like a cat” is related to the plot!
Slap scene?
Ok, so even IF we say that the plot was tolerable, one thing that really got me very angry was the scene that P’Uno SLAPPED Dae Byeol because of a misunderstanding. I mean, seriously? A slap? What year is it??? And why was it necessary when they could just TALK.
Father of the year?
P’Uno’s father had made mistakes. He cheated his wife and then he abandoned his son. Now, he has regrets and tries to fix his relationship with his son. But he seems to have enough room in his heart for one child at a time. When he learns that his daughter is jealous of her brother and that she’s the one that is trying to ruin his life, he didn’t even try to finally fix the sister and brother relationship, but instead he throws the girl out of his house. As he isn’t the one who raised her all these years. As they’re not both his children. This part of the plot does not make sense at all!
Love language?
Last but don’t least, I present you my favorite thing to hate about this drama. The fact that EVERYONE was speaking Korean, but P’Uno, who understood Korean, couldn’t speak a single word. I mean, I know he had an interpreter with him and then they all wear these earphones that could translate from one language to another, BUT they couldn’t even bother to teach him some basics just for the plot to be more realistic? How can a famous idol in both Korea and Thailand, with a Korean father don’t speak a single Korean word???
In case you didn’t notice, for all the above reasons, I didn’t like this drama. Even if it’s a short one I struggled to finish it and I don’t recommend you to watch it. All the actors really tried (as much as the plot let them), but the series was a total disappointment.
