Hello – hello my little faces. We anxiously awaited the 2nd season of the Netflix series Love Alarm and finally, our anxiety is over. After a very good first season, the second came to reward us for waiting two years (or not)…
THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS.

After the end of the first season where Kim Jo-Jo turned on the shield in her app to avoid Hwang Sun-Oh the story moves to 2023, four years later where we see Jo-Jo dates Lee Hye-Young. He has accepted that Jo-Jo may never ring his alarm but tells her he is determined to stay by her side as long as she accepts him.
On the other hand, Sun-Oh, who had not get over Jo-Jo yet, dates Lee Yook Jo, who has also accepted the fact that her lover cannot activate her alarm. Sun-Oh learns about Jo-Jo’s shield and asks for an explanation. She tells him that he is to blame for her decision, which hurts him even more.

Jo-Jo’s cousin Park Gul Mi tries to find a way to join the Love Alarm elite but her plans sink into the void until she gets help from a stranger. At the same time, the illustrations that Jo-Jo uploads to Instagram anonymously are beginning to be considered prophetic or even motivating for mass suicides, while a girl is murdered and her parents blame the app.
Jo-Jo tries to get in touch with the creator of Love Alarm, who she believes is her old classmate who gave her the shield to see if she can activate Hye-Young’s alarm. When she finally manages to get in touch with the creator of the app he assures her that there is no way to delete the shield but shortly after she receives a bug that allows her to activate her own alarm to whoever she wants.

In the end, Jo-Jo must clarify within herself which of the two she really loves while Gul Mi achieves her dream. Joins the Badge Club. Yook Jo gives Sun Oh time to think while the young girl’s killer approaches Jo-Jo feeling that they have some bond. Fortunately, he was quickly arrested by the police. The real creator of Love Alarm appears and is none other than Cheon Duk Goo, Jo-Jo’s classmate who assures the person chosen by Jo-Jo that her feelings are real.
My thoughts:
The new season clearly wanted to pass on the message of the individual’s free will towards everyone and everything and how a small change in our behavior or way of thinking can be decisive in who we will end up falling in love with regardless of what the “possibilities” say. It was beautifully structured, with several scenes in which the female lead was trying to find out what was really going on inside her, while the spring-decorated Seoul with the blossoming cherries offered wonderful images to the viewer’s eye.
I will not reveal which of the two Jo-Jo ends up with, I will just say that I personally wanted to choose the other. Of course, the fandom was split in half from the beginning so some are quite happy with the development.
The series is available on Netflix. The first season consists of 8 episodes while the second of 6 and I highly recommend it for binge-watching.
