Hello – hello my little faces I hope that you’re doing it fine! Today, as the first post of the new year ( not the “Weekly Update” included ) I decided to talk to you about the first ( ever ) French tv show that I have watched. “Le Bazar de la Charité” or “The bonfire of destiny” as it’s the English title, is available on Netflix and trust me… You gonna love it.!
The story takes place in Paris, France in the year 1897. The most respectful and rich families organize a bazar, in order to collect money for those that they are not so privileged. Everything goes well, until the moment a fire started in the center of the wooden building that the bazar takes place and spreads really quickly trapped everyone inside. Most of them manage to survive, but around 100 people, most of them women and childer died in this fire.
After this event, three women who survived have to deal with their lives turned upside down. Adrienne ( Audrey Fleurot ) taking advantage of the fire stages her own death in order to escape from her abusive husband. Rose ( Julie De Bona ) is forced to leave her husband and love of her life and pretend someone that she is not. Finally, Alice ( Camille Lou ) has to marry someone that she doesn’t love while her true love, Victor ( Victor Meutelet ). Meanwhile, Victor has to prove that he is innocent that he wasn’t the one who started the fire before it’s too late.
Some actors that deserve to be mentioned for how good they played are one adult, Gilbert Melki who played Adrienne’s husband and three kids. Rose de Kervenoaël who played Adrienne’s daughter, Camille, Sacha Pinault who played the street boy Léo and the cutie pie Adrien Guionnet, who played Odette’s son Thomas.
My thoughts.
I totally loved the series. It has only 8 episodes, so it was kinda small, so naturally, I want more! and I hope that Netflix will give us a second season. My personal favorite thing would be to have a time jump though… so we could see Camille and Léo as young adults because let’s be honest… they could totally be an otp if they weren’t so young ( lol ). My favorite performances were those of Gilbert Melki who plays the bad guy and Adrien Guionnet. This little one totally stole my heart.
