Long time no see, friends. Happy belated New Year! May 2024 will be the Year that we’ll finally find the time to watch all these series in our queue list! And here I am today, to add one more to your list (if you haven’t watched it already).
Today’s recommendation, is Last Twilight, that totally blew my mind and raised the bar very high. This series, got me hooked from the very first episode till the end. The last episode aired last week, but there’s an official announcement that teased more to come.

First of all, I’ll start with the unique plot:
Mhok is a guy with many problems. He’s a technician with no job, no family and a heavy debt. No one wants to hire him at any job, as they are afraid of his past behavior that got him convicted. One day, desperate to find a job, he accepts the offer to take care of Day, a man with partial blindness due to an accident. The fact that made Day choose him instead of other applicants, is that Mhok never seemed to felt pity for him. Day is an ex-badminton player and a rich heir. Day and Mhok have both complicated personalities, but as they spend each day together, they manage to understand each other more than anyone does and create a very strong bond between them.

Secondly, I want to say that I just love it when there is realism on a series. And I will point out right now, those little things that I really appreciate and turned this series from good to perfect in my eyes:
Not every character in a BL series has to be gay!
Not that it annoys me, but I love the variety and all the alterative things that we’re able to learn from all those different characters. In these series, every character from the main to support roles, is totally different and has an interesting story to tell.
Not every character has to be good or bad!
All the characters are regular people, who can make mistakes, learn from them and try to be better people, just like us. In Last Twilight, everyone has a lesson to learn and every character grow from their mistakes and from the help they get from others.
There is the right time for everything!
Just like in real life, fall in love and be happy is not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes you have to take time to accept the reality and appreciate the people that are by your side. But in order to be ready to give your love to someone else, there are two key points. The first one is to be ready to accept yourself and the second one is to be ready to trust the other person.
Second chances sometimes are really needed.
As said above, we’re not always ready for the things we have to face in life. Sometimes we need to take a step back and come back stronger and that’s totally fine and has to be respected.

Finally, let’s just take a moment here, to appreciate the two writers (Bee Pongsate Lucksameepong, Best Kittisak Kongka) and the director (Aof Noppharnach Chaiyahwimhon) of these series. One of the magical things that they can do, is take a very serious story and turn it into something bright. They can make you feel a roller coaster of emotions. A sad scene can easily turn into a very optimistic one, a cute scene can turn into a depressed one etc. Simple stories or stories that have nothing to tell are not their thing. During the series, either you find yourself smile from happiness or cry from angst. But in the end, you realize how many lessons you learned throughout the story and how much you’ve grown together with the characters. To put it simply:
Was I in pain while I watched this? YES!
Was I dying from all these cute and heartwarming moments? YES
Did I still wanted more at the end of every episode? DEFINITELY YES!
Am I missing these series right now? OF COURSE!

This series is a game changer, not only for BLs, but also for any other series out there. I’m glad I came across it and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I found it beautiful and heartwarming and I really hope I made you wanna find out the meaning behind “Last Twilight”. I would love to hear your opinion.
