Hello again my friends! Long time no see. I hope you’re all doing good!
Today I’ m going to talk to you about a Taiwanese BL series I recently watched (and I immediately rewatched it), Kiseki: Dear to me. I really enjoyed watching this and I found the storyline to be quite unique, so I thought I should recommend this to you. It’s a 2023 series that adapted from a web novel called “Dear to me”.
Cast
Hsu Kai as Fan Ze Rui
Taro Lin as Bai Zong Yi
Nat Chen as Chen Yi
Louis Chiang as Ai Di
Plot
Bai Zong Yi is a typical student who lives alone in a small house and has the dream of becoming a doctor. One day, as he was walking in an alley, he came across a “dangerous” guy, who was wounded and needed help. His name was Fan Ze Rui and he kind of threatened Bai Zong Yi to hide him at his house and take care of him as long as it was needed.
As the days go by, the two of them develop a beautiful relationship. But the plot was time to start plotting, so aside from their cute relationship, some things had to happen. It was time for Fan Ze Rui to move out of Bai Zong Yi’s house, but he soon returned to his life as a teacher at his school. He told Bai Zong Yi not to ask any questions about it and promised him that when the time is right, he will tell him everything. But what was never right was the timing between them.
As much as Fan Ze Rui tried to keep Bai Zong Yi out of his criminal past, after a very dangerous encounter and a big fight, Fan Ze Rui ends up extremely injured and Bai Zong Yi took the blame instead of him. Will things remain the same between them after this unexpected turn of events? Will their personalities and their needs remain the same? Is their love enough to keep them together? Many important questions need to be answered here, but the journey of their relationship is something truly worth exploring by yourselves.Characters
What I really admired about Bai Zong Yi’s character was that, despite his young age, he was very mature. He was always patient, trusted Fan Ze Rui and respected the fact that he needed time to open up about the things that he was hiding from him. He genuinely cared about him and he just trusted himself and his choice of being with Fan Ze Rui.
Fan Ze Rui, on the other hand, always tried to protect Bai Zong Yi and not make him part of his messy life. He always treated him as a precious part of his life and despite him being older, he was the one that was always admiring Bai Zong Yi.
Personal opinion
What I liked on that relationship was the fact that it was very real. By that, I mean that it was not the perfect relationship, but it was very healthy. Of course, they made mistakes and there were some misunderstandings, but the way they always talked through it, was what I admired the most.
I really liked the plot and the number of twists that had me hooked till the very end. The focus wasn’t on the bad things, but instead, what they tried to show us was that even if you can’t pursue your dream, you can always find another that fits to you. It’s okay, we will not remain the same people for as long as we live. Time changes and so do we.
Furthermore, the main actors had insane chemistry and the second couple was a real cute addition to the storyline and I loved them as much as the main couple. Also, the character development of both couples, was a big plus for me!
What I really “kept” from this series was that if you love someone there have to be no pressure in your relationship, but you have to trust each other and believe that there is the right time for everything. What I saw in the series was pure love with nothing more to ask for and that was quite healing for me.
I want to close this review, with the last words of the series:
“It’s a miracle that the person you like also likes you.
Being loved by someone you like is even more so.
This miracle is not from the grace of God, but from the two hearts that love and support each other.”
(note: Kiseki, means “miracle” in Japanese language)
Fun facts
- “Kiseki: Dear to me” was originally planned to air with another cast as part of the HIStory series, but they replaced it with “HIStory 3: Make our days count”. The screenwriter of the series, Pei Yu, is the screenwriter of all HIStory series, except “Make our days count”. Also, the main actors of the “Make our days count” series, play an important role in this series too
- The main couple from “Be loved in the house: I do”, also make a cameo in “Kiseki: Dear to me”.
