Hotel Del Luna: review ( no spoilers )

Hey there my little faces. Today we’ll talk about Hotel Del Luna a Korean series, production in 2019. The leading roles include Yeo Jin-goo and Lee Ji-eun ( known as IU as well ).

Hotel Del Luna | Netflix

When Chansung, one of the best hoteliers of his generation with a resume that many would envy, receives an offer to work at the Hotel Del Luna, his life is about to change radically. There he will meet the owner, the materialist Manwol, as well as the other employees of the hotel each of them with their own distinct personality.

He will find that Del Luna is not an ordinary hotel. It is actually a place where tormented souls go after their death to prepare for their afterlife. It is… a hotel for ghosts.

Tortured guests will make their way through the hotel and Chansung’s job as the only living employee will be to help them find the peace they seek. At the same time, the hotel staff, including Manwol, are trying to atone for their own sins so that they can move on.

Significant help to our heroes is given by the goddess with many faces, Mago, while the young Yuna and Sanchez, Chansung’s best friend, will inadvertently get involved in all this. A big part of the series shows the past of the “cold” Manwol and how her life came upside down and she became the owner of the hotel. Will she be able to find out what happened to Yeonu and Cheong Myeong and get revenge so he can find peace?

New on Netflix This November: Hotel Del Luna, Tune in For Love, and TEOTFW Season 2 | 8List.ph

In the series, the dominant element is the fantastic one with the necessary doses of humor and action, while romance could not be missing, since like almost all kdramas, this one, in fact, is a love story. The screenwriters have managed to create a beautiful series by balancing all the above elements making the viewer watch one episode after another.

The interesting stories of the dead hotel guests that we see in each episode make the series always interesting. Also, the question marks about the main characters about their lives and who they really are created from the first episode make the viewer try to find out what is going on.

  1. I stumbled upon this show by accident, but I am so glad I did. This is the best show I have watched in a long time and it has introduced me to the exciting world of k-dramas! I am not one who usually commits to television series, but this one is definitely worth your time. I felt it was generous in its story telling and rewards its viewers for sticking with it. IU is just such a charismatic actress(!) and even though in the beginning I wasn’t convinced I would be all that taken with Chansung, his pure goodness and loyalty won me overly entirely. Actually, almost every character was brilliantly cast and their storylines helped move the show along, never feeling contrived. The show is seriously brilliant at drip feeding us information to keep us hooked. I just loved it and am looking forward to discovering new k-dramas.

    1. I’m so glad you liked the series. It’s one of my favorites. If you want to check some other kdramas you can read any of my reviews. Most of them have no spoilers and maybe you’ll find something new to watch and you’ll like it. Thank you for your comment.

      1. I certainly will! Rookie Historian is one I am now really enjoying- though not quite in the same league as Hotel Del Luna.

  2. This show way too extraordinary. It has everything you will ever need in a show. Curiosity, music, humor, romance everything just so balanced
