As it is known I love kdramas… Not all of them… but if the story is interesting, has a little (or a lot ) adventure, and romance ( the supernatural element is a big bonus ) then it is very likely that I will see it and love… or not. Watching Crash Landing On You I was sure of one thing with the start of the first episode… that the series will be one of my best choices!
Yoon Seri has accepted for many years that her family does not love her. She may have grown up in wealth but never got love from her parents or siblings. So she decided to rely on her own strength, to become a successful businesswoman and in fact the same ( if not more ) as her father.
Her father is now determined to leave the management of his business to one of his children and invites them all to a family dinner to which Yoon Seri decides to go at the last minute. Their father announces that he has chosen his only daughter as his successor and everyone is shocked. Even Seri herself. She accepts the proposal and sets in motion the procedures for merging their companies.
A few days before the documents are signed, Seri decides to try her company’s new sportswear line doing paraglider. However, while Seri is in the air, extreme weather phenomena break out, with the result that strong winds carry her miles away. She is trapped in a tree and found by a soldier, Ri Jeonghyeok. Seri explains who she is and asks for help to contact her assistant when Ri Jeonghyeok tells her that this is not going to happen as she is in North Korea.
Seri must prove that she is not a spy, trapped in a country that sees all South Koreans as enemies, surrounded by soldiers in a village where there is no electricity.
The series is really good and we have the chance to see how North Koreans are live while they are under dictatorship and their way of living is completely different from South Koreans. Of course, for obvious reasons, real names of the North Korean government were never mentioned and they used fake names of government agencies and services.
The performances were once again very good although the impressions may be stolen by the soldiers of Ri Jeonghyeok’s team who are lovable, something that truth be told, I did not expect.
The series consists of 16 episodes lasting about 70 minutes each and is available on Netflix.
