Hello – hello!!

It’s finally time to talk to you about the fourth book in the series “Sin Bin Stories” ( read here the previous ones, Offside Play, Chasing The Puck, Breakaway Goal ). This series managed to improve with each book, and I was beyond excited to read the one, based on Lane and Scarlett’s story.

Eighteen months ago, Lane took a summer job as a hockey coach in a student camp in Chicago. Fate made him sit next to a beautiful girl, covered in tattoos and apparently a fan of mafia romance books. As Lane ( and the whole airplane ) figured out when her earbuds disconnected and her audiobook started playing – in full volume – on her phone’s speaker.

Scarlett was impressed by the boy next to her immediately, even if he wasn’t her type, at all,. But she had just gotten out of a bad relationship with her ex, and when he asked her for her phone number, she told him that if the universe wanted them together… they would manage to meet again. And they did. They met and had the best summer fling anyone could ask for. Then, Lane started talking about how they keep in touch and try a long-distance relationship. Scarlett starts to believe in love again… Until everything went to hell, and they both ended up heartbroken.

When Scarlett finally got accepted into one of the best pre-law universities in the country as a transfer, she knew that it was where Lane was studying as well, and he was their hockey team’s captain. Although her plan was simple. Do not cross ways with him, not after he broke her heart. The moment Lane saw her walking down the street, he knew he was still in love with her. Even if he was trying to convince himself otherwise. Even if she had broken his heart.

Being in the same place isn’t that easy to stay away from each other, though. And when Lane finds out that she needs a place to stay, he offers Hudson’s room, now that he has left to live with Summer. Having no other choice but to agree, Scarlett has to live next door with the boy that she never managed to get over, and he doesn’t want anything from her, except her friendship.

My thoughts:

Lemire did it again! I liked that story so much. The main couple was insane, and seeing the previous three couples as supportive characters was a blessing. I loved the misunderstanding trope more than I thought I would. I also liked that they didn’t figure out immediately what happened back in Chicago, and they were just in love and miserable. Seeing them thinking that the other person wasn’t feeling the same way and just was trying to stay strong made the story more real. The slow burn was perfectly insane.

Something else I liked was that we got a glimpse of the next book’s couple. It will finally be about my boy Sebastian and Scarlett’s friend, Harper. And the “enemies to lovers” that they aren’t actually enemies but in love idiots trope, is too strong people. We also saw a lot about Jamie, and I think the writer plans to write his story after Sebastian’s. But anyway… Back to “Blocked Score”.

The book was really nice, well-written, with a good amount of spicy scenes. But what I actually liked the most was that even when they thought that the other wasn’t in love with them, they kept showing how badly they wanted each other. Lane being possessive, even when she wasn’t with him, wasn’t a funny thing to see, only for Rhys and Sebastian, but for me as well.

I can’t wait for Sebastian’s story to come alive. I will not apologise for the person that I will become the moment I am able to read my favorite boy’s love story!

It’s a 4/5 stars from me.
