The Passage. “There’s not such thing as vampires.”

Hello there my adorable little faces. Today I will talk to you about FOX’s “The Passage” based on a book trilogy by Justin Cronin. I haven’t read the books but I totally loved the series and I really hope that they will renew it for a second season. The first one has 10 episodes and I will try to not write huge spoilers.

The story.

After a tragic accident in Bolivia, Dr. Tim Fanning ( Jamie McShane ) infected by an unknown virus. His friend and co-worker, Dr. Jonas Lear ( Henry Ian Cusick ) try to save him and discovers that Fanning has immunity to all known human illnesses but not without a cost. This virus turns him into a creature who has yellow eyes, fangs and drinks blood ( yeap, a vampire ).

Jonas with Dr. Major Nichole Sykes ( Caroline Chikezie ) dedicate their lives to find a cure and recruit death row inmates including, Shauna Babcock ( Brianne Howey ) and Anthony Carter ( McKinley Belcher III ) and nine more, as lab rats. Doctors seeing that this is has no results made a choice. To use a kid for the experiment and Amy Bellafonte ( Saniyya Sidney ) is the… lucky one.

Special agent, Brad Wolgast ( Mark-Paul Gosselaar ) never asked questions about the people that he had to bring in the “Project NOAH”, until now. He decides to save this kid from them and together they run away from the government and those doctors with his ex-wife’s, Lila Kyle ( Emmanuelle Chriqui ). These people will not leave them alone though and Brad’s best friend, Clark Richards ( Vincent Piazza ) is one of them.

My thoughts with no spoilers.

I think that it’s one of the coolest new things that I watched this year. The whole cast did an excellent job with little Saniyya stealing the spotlight. The chemistry between Saniyya and Mark-Paul is so good that you can get “father/daughter” vibes and I cried when “Brad” tells “Amy” that it’s ok to break their promise ( I will not tell you more though ).

Jamie McShane is more than scary!! I was sure that I will have nightmares with this dude but thank God I was able to sleep at night. “Shauna” and “Clark” became two of my favorites, even if I didn’t like them at first ( and my ship is the sickest thing out there, but I love it ).

The graphics and the direction are better than I thought and the virals ( ’cause they don’t call them vampires ) are scary as hell. I hope that the show will get a season two because season one stopped in a hell of events and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for those characters.
