The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

Hello – hello,

Are we all alive after the perfection of “Off Campus” the series on Prime was? Because, I’m not gonna lie… I need a minute! ( But you can read all about that in my previous posts. ) Now, we’ll return to the books, to our core… and we’ll dive into Logan and Grace’s book, “The Mistake”.

John Logan is one of the stars on the hockey team at their university. He is smart and hot, and he can have any girl that he wants. Except for one. He’s crushing, hard, on Hannah, and it’s not even funny anymore. Because she has a boyfriend, Garrett… and Garrett is John’s best friend.

Desperate to get her out of his mind, he starts sleeping with a different girl every night. Until one night, he ends up in the wrong dorm room and meets Grace Ivers, a freshman, and he spends time with her. Logan is having a really good time and keeps meeting with Grace, until he feels guilty for using her to forget Hannah, and he tells her the truth.

Grace stops, whatever it is that they have, she is calling it “a mistake” and Logan understands ( a little bit late ) that the girl he actually likes is Grace. Now, he has to find a way to make her forgive him, because, trying the whole summer, with no results, he can’t stop thinking of her.

My thoughts:

Now look, I usually don’t like the “second chance” trope, but… Johnny Logan was my favorite since book one, and on this one, I can confirm that this didn’t change. He is sweet, loyal, and he would do anything for the people he loves. All he wants is to find someone and be in a healthy relationship, one like Garrett and Hannah’s, and that’s exactly why he thinks that he has a crush on her. He wants what his friends have, not her.

Grace’s character, on the other hand, is adorable and so supportive. She doesn’t care what you have done to her. If you need her help, she’ll come running to you. I loved that she took time for herself and even if she liked Logan, she made him fight for her. She needed to be sure and I’m 100% with her. Make him suffer girl!!

I also liked that we saw how mature Logan is in reality, even if in the beginning, the writer wants to make us believe the opposite. The communication between them, after Logan woke up, was pure gold, and Logan trying to save his family even if the one who needs saving is him, just made me love him more.

His dad finally got his shit together and tried to save himself, so he could save his kids, it was everything I was hoping for in the entire book.

It’s a 4.8/5 from me.
