Hello – hello my little faces. Today, I’m gonna talk to you about Tale of the Nine-Tailed, a kdrama production in 2020. It is a romantic fantasy series based on the well-known nine-tailed fox Asian myth. A mythological immortal creature who can take the form of humans.
Lee Yeon, who is a Fox, is the spirit of nature in the area where he lives. When he meets the mortal Ah Eum, they break every taboo when they fall in love, but their happiness does not last long. Imoogi, a ghost in the form of a snake that can possess humans destroys their happiness with Ah Eum ending up dead.
600 years later and while Lee Yeon is waiting for the reincarnation of the only woman he has ever loved, he meets Ji Ah who, while she looks like his beloved Ah Eum, he believes that she is not her. The story becomes even more complicated when Yeon’s brother, Rang, makes his appearance while at the same time the reborn Imoogi seeks revenge.
The series has a great script, perfect direction, and amazing interpretations from the cast. It contains several references to various Asian myths which are beautifully intertwined giving us a very beautiful result. The series is recommended for binge-watching as it has the necessary anxiety about what will happen next.
The series also has beautifully written second characters with Yuri being one of my favorites, but also the little one who plays the role of the orphan Suho who will steal your hearts.
