Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater

Hello – hello there my adorable little faces. Today I will talk to you about the fourth book of The Shiver Trilogy written by Maggie Stiefvater, Sinner. You can also read my three other posts about the previous books here: Shiver, Linger and Forever.

I’m not pretty sure if Maggie had in her plans to write Sinner all along, but I will always be grateful that she did. As you know ( if you had read my previous blog posts ), Isabel and Cole are my favourites characters and my favourite couple from the books as well. On Sinner, we follow their story, right after the events on Mercy Falls and the hunt. Sam and Grace just make a little cameo at the begging of the book though.

The plot:

After the hunt, Isabel’s parents decided to take divorce so Isabel with her mother went back to Los Angeles to live with her aunt and her cousin. Cole, on the other hand, made an appearance in the world letting them know that he is alive and well and he has plans to return back to making music. In order to be close to Isabel, who again doesn’t return his calls, accepts a proposal for a reality show based on him and his band.

The concept is simple. Cameras will follow them around while they write the songs for their new album and to their few private concerts around L.A. Cole has other plans though. He for sure wants to make music again, but his priority is to make Isabel go on a date with him. She, on the other hand, is way too busy with her studying to become a doctor and her afternoon job in a boutique so she tries to avoid him.

And now, my thoughts ( and spoilers ) :

I don’t know what to say about this book! It has my heart and I’m not so sure that I will take it back soon. The writing was so perfect. Cole’s lines to Isabel to make her go out with him, her responses that always made me wanna laugh ( or cry ) and how they flirt with each other even without noticing…

I know that they’re both damaged and in pain. We can see that while we read the book. They have trust issues, especially Isabel, and even if they are mad for each other they’re keeping hurt one another. Until the very end, I wasn’t sure that they will end up together. I had five pages to finish it and I remember that I looked up at my sister and told her “If they don’t end up together I will kill someone.” But everything went well.

The ending was perfect. I will totally read it again and I’d love if someone picked those books for a tv adaption. It would be great. I, of course, recommend it to you ( the whole series actually ) and I hope that you’ll love it as much as I did.

Don’t forget to tell me what you think about the post in the comments below or on my facebook page. Also, if you like my posts just follow my blog through WordPress or your e-mail account ( you’ll find the following buttons on your right in this post ). Until next time…
