Hello there little faces. The big moment for the fans ( old and new ) of the phenomenon series at the end of the ’00s has arrived! Today, January 5, the new Rebelde premiered through the Netflix platform and was exactly as we expected it.

Netflix’s Rebelde turned out to be what we all believed. The – in a sense – continuation of the Mexican reboot of 2004. The Elite way school remains the best boarding school in Mexico with its young prospective students having the opportunity to choose the field of study that interests them. Economics, Philosophy and Science… but also Music are some of them.
The new school year begins and students, new and old ones, walk through the college doors full of dreams for their future. First-year students apply to be selected for the next phase of the annual music competition. Among them are our protagonists, Jana, Luka, Esteban, Dixon, MJ and Andi.

But not everything is rainbow and sunshine in this superficially perfect school. The gang that used to terrorize students in the past, The Lodge, has returned and is targeting our protagonists to prevent them from taking part in the competition.
Love, friendships and troubled relationships are some of the topics that always dominate the background music.
My thoughts:
The series is exactly on the same wavelength as the previous ones and does not offer any huge surprises. Adapted to 2022, the script is fresh, with many references to the musical influences of “today”. But there are many references to the old cast of the series as well. Of course, those who have seen the reboot of 2004 will see some familiar appearances since some actors returned to their roles.

The first season of the series consists of 8 45-minute episodes and is available on Netflix.
