Hello – hello,
I’m back with the third book in the Chestnut Springs series by Elsie Silver. After two incredible books ( Flawless and Heartless ) it’s now time to talk about Sloane and Jasper’s story!
Jasper is the adopted brother of the Eaton family. He is Beau’s best friend, a famous hockey player, a womanizer and Sloane’s crush for the last 18 years! To be exact, the poor girl is long lost for him, since the day she went to visit her cousins and he met him. Unfortunately, all he sees in her is the little girl that he met back then. At least, that’s what she thinks.
When Sloane takes a break from her ballet shows to prepare for her wedding, Jasper loses his mind. He always thought that he would be able to never reveal how much in love he is with her. But seeing her with someone else, getting married to someone else, drives him crazy.
The moment she finds out that her fiancé has cheated on her, Sloane realizes that she doesn’t want to marry him. Of course, Jasper is there, ready to help her run away! Returning to Jasper’s family house and taking the opportunity to travel with him, was for Sloane just an excuse to leave everything behind for a while. None of them expected to end up having mind-blowing sex and figure out how in love they actually are with each other.
My thoughts!
I loved that we saw them taking their time, even if the sexual tension was at the top. It looked more natural, since they had known each other for so many years and didn’t know about each other’s feelings.
I liked that we saw that she got closure with her ex and about her relationship with her dad. Having her mother finally wake up and leave her husband, taking her daughter’s side, was a huge plus! ( I got a feeling that she’ll end up with Harvey, but I am not sure that I want that… I mean, he was her sister’s husband… )
The small time jumps were perfect given for the plot and their ending was great and suited for their story.
We got a small preview of the next book about Winter and Theo and I have to say that they got my attention. Also, Winter becoming friends with Sloane was a nice surprise and I’m glad that we saw that she also has a better relationship with Summer, her sister, as well.
Maybe it bothered me more than I expected that her dad stayed an asshole until the end. However, unfortunately, this is what often happens in real life as well. Life is bittersweet after all and we need to find out how to live with that.
It’s a 4.2/5 stars from me.

Until next time…
