Hello – hello there my adorable little faces. Today I will write about one of my favourites drama series. It’s an English production on the BBC ONE network and the title is Poldark. ( trailer )
The story begins after the American War of Independence in 1783 when Ross Poldark returns back home to Cornwall. During the war, everyone back home thought that Ross was dead but when he comes back everything turns upside down. He founds out that his father is dead. His family’s mines on the brink of bankruptcy and his home almost abandoned. The only thing that makes him happy is that his beloved cousin, Francis Poldark, is engaged to be married. Well, until they tell him the name of the bride. Elizabeth Chynoweth. The love of his life and his fiancee. ( #oops )
Ross takes the decision to leave all of that behind him. He wants to make his home and life great again and prove to everyone that he can make it. He wants Elizabeth back and he is willing to fight for her. Well, at least that’s the plan… but in Greece, we have this saying. “When men do plans, God laughing at them.” And I will tell you right away why I’m saying this to you.
One day, at the village, Ross saves a young boy from a fight and when he asks his name, the answer is simple. Demelza Carne. Definitely, not a boy! He decides to take her with him and let her work for him as a maid at his home. The thing is that Demelza isn’t like anyone else that Ross even met. Smart, loyal, sweet and willing to take everything she can to make things great. All of that is enough for the people to start t a l k i n g but Ross and Demelza couldn’t care less for the gossips.
Demelza isn’t the only one that wanna helps Ross though. His best friend, Doctor Dwight Enys, is always at his side and Ross and Demelza‘s new friend Caroline Penvenen will try to help him deal with everything. Unfortunately, they can’t all be good and want to see our hero be happy and strong. One of them, Ross‘ biggest enemy, is George Warleggan who will do everything that he can to destroy Ross‘ reputation and estate.
They have already aired the first three seasons with 27 episodes to be ready for you to watch them. ( season 1 has 8 episodes, season 2 has 10 episodes and season 3 has 9 episodes ) Let me know what you’re thinking about my post and the series in the comments below or on my facebook page. Until next time…
xx Marilita.
