Perfect marriage revenge is a Korean series of 2023.
The story revolves around Han Yijoo ( Yoomin ) the family’s oldest daughter. She is adopted but when they decide to adopt her the parents had already a daughter. Even if their family is always cold and distant over her, she loves them and always tries her best to win their love and approval. Yijoo is very talented and sometimes she likes to paint replicas of famous artists and give them to her mother as a gift.
Her stepmother, Junghye, hates her more than anything. And the same feelings towards Yijoo has her stepsister, Yoora, as well. One day, at a significant event at the family’s art gallery that Yoora runs, Yijoo discovers that Junghye sold her copied paints as real to clients, and when one of the clients discovers the truth called the police her stepmom convinced everyone that the true mastermind behind this scam is Yijoo.
At the same time, as if this wasn’t traumatizing enough, Yijoo finds out that her husband is in love with her sister and has filed for divorce. To save herself from being captured by the police run away. But fate has other plans for her and she ends up in a car crash.
Beware of the spoilers below:
While in the hospital, she has been killed by her stepmom and she wakes up one year earlier, just a few days before her wedding. Remembering everything, she takes an oath… to take revenge on everyone! She breaks up with her boyfriend and meets Seo Doguk ( Sung Hoon ), the man whom her sister wants to marry. Yijoo offers him a great deal of a fake marriage and he agrees.
In the end, after many episodes full of suspense and plot twists, we learn that Yijoo is in reality the real daughter of her adopted father and Yoora is not. The Doguk had been in the other car and died as well, but came back and remembered everything had me big time. I loved the fact that he liked her and when she asked for his help he was willing to sacrifice everything to help her.
My opinion:
The series was pretty awesome and well-written. Junghye was an excellent villain ( and I love a good villain on my shows ) but we have seen so many series, movies, etc of the stepmom being the bad guy. I’d like to watch something “fresh”. Also, some of the plots were way too obvious but they gave them to us pretty well in the story so, I can overlook this.
Something odd though, was that the series plot has way too much in common with “Marry My Husband” (which I will take you about in another post ) but I will leave it to you to decide which one you like the most.
Perfect Marriage Revenge though takes a solid 7.5/10 from me.
Until next time…
