Hello – hello my little faces. Navillera is a South Korean series, production of 2021 and in the leading roles we see Song Kang and Park In-hwan.

The series is about the 70-year-old Sim Deok-Chool former postman who when he was young wanted to learn ballet, but he never had the chance. When he happens to be outside the dance school where he the 23-year-old Lee Chae-Rok rehearses, is enchanted by the young man’s dance and decides to take ballet classes.

Chae Rok’s teacher agrees to take him as a student to his school but only on one condition. The one who will teach ballet at Deok Chool will be Chae Rok.

At first the young dancer believes that his older student will be nothing more than an extra weight on his shoulders as he fights through competitions and auditions. Later, however, he will be enchanted by the man’s love for ballet and his devotion to the dance.

Will Sim Deok-Chool manage to make his dream come true and dance on stage with an audience at least once in his life?

My thoughts:

The main message of the series is that we must continue to chase our dreams and the things that make us happy even when everything seems to be too late. A series full of hope, beautiful messages and well-written characters that all have their own small or big development.

The scenes in which the two protagonists dance ballet are harmoniously shot, making the viewer believe that they are the ones dancing. Although Song Kang managed to shoot most of the scenes on his own without being duplicated by a dancer.

If you like “warm” stories, I highly recommend it, although you will need tissues…

It’s a 8.6/10 from me.

The series consists of 12 one-hour episodes and is available on Netflix.

Let me know what you think about the post in the comments below. Until next time…

xx Marilita.
