Hello there little faces. Today will talk about the second season of His dark materials and if you haven’t watch it yet and you hate spoilers please leave this post and return after you finished it.

Lyra and Pan as well as the Magisterium are looking for Lord Asriel for different reasons. Coulter in an effort to keep the reins of the case and be on control makes new alliances on the Magisterium council. Lyra, Pan and Will meet and together they try to discover the world they are in while the two children get closer and closer talking about their worlds. Lyra asks him to take her to Oxford of his world and although he is afraid for his life he agrees.

Lyra asks the alethiometer how she can find out about the Dust and it replies that she has to find the scientist with the mountain at the door. This quest leads her to the scientist Mary Malone who studies Dark Matter. The two of them do a simple experiment and discover that in fact Dust and Dark Matter are the same thing. At the same time Will visits his grandparents to help him get a bonus he is entitled to but they call the police. He realizes this, pops it at the last minute and goes to the place where he has made an appointment with Lyra. She tells him that the aletheometor told her that his father is alive and they both decide to look for the man.

Lyra and Pan go to Oxford without telling Will because as long as the police are looking for him it’s dangerous to him there. They try to talk to Mary Malone again but someone asks questions about Will and they both get away at the last minute. They get help from Boreal but he manages to steal the alethiometer. At the same time Lee is looking for Dr. Grumman but the Magisterium arrests him and when Coulter goes to talk to him he assures her that he is not going to reveal anything to her because he cares about Lyra. She sets him free and asks him to protect her daughter. At Oxford in Will’s world, Mary tries to communicate with Dust, while Lyra and Will go to ask for the aletheometor back. Boreal tells them that he will only give it to them if they bring back to him the knife that it’s in the Cittagazze tower.

Lee finds Dr Grumman, who tells him to call him Jopari, and asks him to help protect Lyra and in return to help him get back to his family ( as we learn that he is Will’s father ). Lyra and Will find the entrance to the Tower where they are looking for the knife but there they find besides Giacomo Paradisi who is the Bearer of the knife, which is called the Subtle knife, also a young man who has stolen it. Will fights with him to get the knife but loses both fingers of his right hand. He succeeds to get it back and Paradisi explains to them that now the keeper of the knife is Will after it chose him. Boreal takes Coulter to Will’s world to hand her over Lyra as he believes his plan will catch on. Paradisi teaches Will how to handle the knife while Pan allows the young man to touch him, which shocks Lyra. Mary tries once again to communicate with the Dust and this time she succeeds and learns that the Dust, the Shadows and the Dark Matter is the same thing… Angels. Who always help people with only one purpose, vengeance.

Will and Lyra decide to go to Boreal’s house to steal the alethiometer with the help of the knife, so Will practices opening and closing windows. Coulter goes to visit Mary Malone leaving behind her daemon which surprises Boreal. The angels tell Mary that they will not speak to her again in this world and that her mission now is to save the girl and the boy. Lyra with Will and Pan go to Boreal’s house by opening a window and while Will is about to get the alethiometer back, Coulter stops him. The kids are trapped at home and in their attempt to escape Lyra loses control and attacks at her mother through Pan. Will manages to escape and takes the girl with her daemon with him. Mary announces to her sister that she is going on a journey and with the help of the angels finds the window to Cittagazze.

Angelica with Paola and the other children try to kill Lyla and Will as they believe they are responsible for the Specters catching their brother, but Serafine saves them at the last minute. Lee and Jopari travel together and arrive in Cittagazze. Mary, who has already arrived in the city, finds Angelica and Paola and when the two sisters explain to her what has happened and that everyone left them alone, Mary asks them to follow her. While the three of them have left the city, Coulter and Boreal arrive there. Coulter discovers that she can control the Specters and after sending them to find her daughter, she kills Boreal.

Will has a conversation with Pan while he thinks that Lyra is sleeping in which he confesses to Daemon that the girl is his best friend and Pan assures him that the same for Lyra. Angelica and Paola with Mary’s help find the adults of their town who had taken refuge in the mountains and Mary continues her journey to find Lyra. Coulter captures Lena, one of the witches, whom she tortures until she tells her that Lyra is actually Eve. The mother of all. Lee and Jopari are chased by Magisterium’s soldiers and Lee falls dead after stayed behind to allow Will’s father to escape. Jopari finds his son and discovers that he is The knife Bearer. He explains to him that he must join the coming battle otherwise everyone will die, but one of the soldiers shoots him and he dies. At the same time, Coulter finds Lyra and kidnaps her. Asriel asks the Angels for help in the war and they tell him that they will join him.

The second season was good enough and left us in cliffhanger to see what will happen next but I didn’t find the last episode so strong. It did not bother me too much ’cause the whole season was great but I believe that the last episode could be a little bit more strong. Otherwise the season was great as I said already with beautiful cinematography and remarkable interpretations from the whole cast.

The series renewed for a third and last season.
