Heartless by Elsie Silver

Hello – hello!!

After a gorgeous first book ( Flawless ), Elsie Silver returns with the second book in her book series “Chestnut Springs”, Heartless. In this book, we read Cade, Willa, and Luke’s story, and trust me… Willa and Luke’s relationship is the most heartwarming thing ever! But let’s dive into the plot.

Cade, is the grumpiest among the Eaton boys. A rancher and single dad to Luke, at the age of 38, he doesn’t have the time to be carefree. Being in a relationship even more, especially after Talia’s betrayal. Having the mother of your child walk away from you and your son, to live her life, giving zero fucks about her own son, isn’t easy.

The moment he starts looking for a nanny for the summer, he realizes that it’s not easy to approve any of the candidates from Chestnut Spring. Summer, his brother’s fiancée, has the perfect solution. Willa, her best friend, is free for the summer and she could use the extra money. Cade agrees to meet her, although he isn’t so sure if that will work.

Cade hates a lot of things, and stalling at the line keeps him from getting his coffee is one of these. Especially when he has to be at home soon to meet that Will girl… But that can wait, because now he is smitten by the girl in front of him and her laugh. The moment she turns around and he sees her, he loses his mind immediately, because of course, she’s beautiful as well. She drops something by accident from her purse and he runs to help her out… ( what a great opportunity to meet her… ) Until he figures out that the black lace thing he picked up, was her panties.

My thoughts:

I usually don’t like a big age gap… Cade is 38 and Willa is 25, well, unless one of them is immortal ( lol ), but I think the age difference in this one was okay. First of all, they’re both adults. Willa is not barely a teen, she knows what she wants and who she is as a person.

I really liked that we saw a lot of Willa’s relationship with Luke and how they loved each other. Plus, her and Cade were actually talking when it was needed… T h a n k you!

I’m not so sure how I feel about Willa’s unexpected pregnancy, so early into their relationship, but I guess it was a double use of this plot. Firstly, to see how Cade will react to the story repeated to him, and to the young girls who’ll read the book, to know that it is possible to get pregnant while you’re on your pill. If you get sick and throw up a few times, it is possible to boom… pregnant.

Anyways, I liked their story a lot and I’m happy for them becoming a family, because it is what they want! The book has a lot of spicy scenes, so keep your distance if it’s not your cup of tea. I’m looking forward to starting the next one, though! Stay tuned, because I will return with a review.

It’s a 4.2/5 stars from me.
