Business Proposal: review ( no spoilers )

Young Seo is a wealthy heiress who wants to escape from her father and tries to make it on her own in life. But he continues to try to have a say in her life by trying to find her “the perfect man”. He sets her up on one date after another with scions of rich families but can’t understand why none of them want to hear from his adorable daughter again.

The truth is, Young Seo has never gone on any of the dates. Her place, every time, is taken by her friend HaRi who has made it a “profession” to make her friend get away from this situation. On each date she also adopts a new personality according to the information she extracts from the would-be grooms and thus, until the end of the date, she presents herself to them with the exact opposite personality from the one they want for their other half.

When Young Seo is forced to go on yet another date, this time with TaeMu, it is HaRi who goes in her place. She is ready to do anything to make the young man run away when she discovers that he is actually her boss.

TaeMu, who is being pressured by his grandfather to marry or lose his inheritance realizes that Young Seo’s personality is fake and makes her a… business proposal. To pretends to be his girlfriend until he finds a way to convince his grandfather that he doesn’t need to get married. Having no other choice, HaRi accepts and now has to do everything to keep their agreement, but also to prevent TaeMu from finding out who she really is.

My opinion:

The series is full of clichés and things we have seen in other similar series and movies. It has no serious plot twist and obviously, the ending is predictable from the trailer alone… But! It’s so freshly structured and so cleverly worked that it’s really a very good choice if you want to watch something light.

It has enough funny scenes to cheer you up and the four main characters have bonded so well together that you will love them. Of course, you’ll love TaeMu’s grandpa as well!

The series consists of one season with a total of 12 episodes of approximately one hour each and is available on Netflix.
