After a wonderful first season, Blood of Zeus is back to remind us why we loved it so much! Right after the big reveal that left everyone in shock, that Heron and Seraphim are brothers the war between the Gods and Demons is inevitable.
Hades and Persephone, to achieve their plan and cancel Persephone’s “curse” which makes her every Spring to leave her family back to the Underworld and visit her mother, must find the Eleusinian Stone which will allow Hades to become powerful.
Zeus, in the middle of the war, asks Hestia to take the Stone and give it to Gaia since she’s the only one who can protect it. The Stone is the key to awakening the most dangerous monster of them all, Python, who is imprisoned in Etna and must be protected because whoever has the Stone will have the ability to become extremely powerful.
Due to the war, Zeus dies, and the Gods and Demi-gods make a truce until they pay their respects to their King. They have to compete with one another to find the new heir to the Throne. Heron at first decided to not take part in this but after a huge fight with Ares changed his mind.
Heron loses the games but Zeus’s spirit decides that his pure soul is worthy to be the winner and he gives him his ring ( the trophy that makes him his heir ). Gaia, informs Heron that if he wants to save Seraphim he must find the sword his father made for him ( he had lost it at some point in the first season ). He decides to go in a request and find it and Alexia and Kofi go with him. They eventually manage to locate it but they must fight with Talos to be able to take it. They have a huge fight with the giant and they manage to retrieve the sword and kill Talos.
Seraphim and Heron fight for the Stone, and Heron wins while the Gods start fighting with each other once more.
The brothers manage to stop the war between the Gods united ( I mean, finally ) after saving each other, but Hades still blinded by his agony to save his family stabs Heron and takes the Stone. Gaia seeing that the Gods want only power and that no one is noble enough, calls the one that who must not be named ( not Voldemort, he’s from another universe ) but Python! The Titan who she thinks can put everything back in order!
My opinion:
I personally think that it was an excellent second season. We saw the growth of our characters and seeing more of Seraphim’s backstory allowed us to get to know him better. Seraphim is my personal favorite character and I like it that he is a more grey character than an evil one. The way that they gave us the backstory of Hades and Persephone’s love story gives the viewer the feeling that those two are just in love and they will do whatever it takes to just be able to get their happy ending. Did they choose the wrong way to do it? Probably. Am I mad about it? Not at all. No one is perfect after all and if you are even a little bit into Greek mythology you may know that Greek Gods are the most non-perfect beings of them all.
I had a great time watching it and it’s perfect for binge-watching since it has only 8 episodes of 3o minutes each. The series is available on Netflix.
It’s an 8.5/10 from me.
