Bad Buddy: review ( no spoilers )

The Bad Buddy series is a Thai production of 2021 based on the book “Behind the scenes”. In the leading roles we see Korapat Kirdpan ( stage name: Nanon ) and Pawat Chittsawangdee ( stage name: Ohm ).

Prat and Pan are the same age, grew up next door and have always been classmates. They could be friends since forever if they were not sworn enemies. Following in the footsteps of their parents who hated each other for a long time, the two of them always tried to outdo each other in everything. At school, in sports…

Nurtured by the day they were born and raised in the lime hatred of their families, the two of them will be confronted with their feelings which are the complete opposite of hate.

Unable to find other excuses to continue to hate each other, they start a friendship that must be kept secret from everyone. Teasing and stealing glances become their new daily routine while at the same time trying to calm down the rivalry of their friends as they belong to different communities at the university where they study.

Everything seems to go well in the microcosm they have created when they realize that what they have may be more than just friendship.

Will they be able to overcome the obstacles that their parents themselves first put in their relationship so that they can live happily?

My opinion:

One of the best series I’ve watched lately. Carefully scripted without exaggeration and with fantastic direction. The chemistry of the main actors is unquestionable while the two protagonists steal the impressions with their acting. The series manages not to fall into the same “clichés” as other bl series and this gives it a freshness that makes it stand out.

It gives enough time for second roles to develop their own story while leaving no unanswered questions. Even the end, which to some may seem unfinished… if you pay close attention is not so. The creators managed to pass on the message to us about what will happen in the near future.

The series consists of a season with a total of 12 episodes of about 50 minutes each and is available on the official channel of the production company on Youtube with English subtitles. ( Each episode is divided into 4 parts ).

From me, it’s an 8.5/10.

Let me know in the comments below what you think about the series. Until next time…

xx Marilita.
